Co-parenting schedule planner
Build a dated co-parenting schedule for two homes, without signing up. Choose a repeating pattern, add school holiday dates and see the next four weeks, annual nights and handovers. Copy or download a plain-text plan to discuss together. Your entries stay in this page only. This is a planning tool, not legal advice.
Just need a fortnightly percentage split? Use the custody time calculator.
What will your usual rota look like?
Each date means the overnight, not daytime care. For repeating rotations, the start date is night one. Weekend patterns use actual Fridays and Saturdays, with Wednesday each week for the midweek option. The starting parent has the first night; the other parent has the next weekend block when the first night is a weekday. Custom assignments stay exactly as you set them; the starting parent only sets holiday order.
How will you share school holidays?
What does the next month look like?

Nothing you enter is sent or stored anywhere. It stays in temporary page memory, not in the address, and clears when you leave or reload. Copying or downloading saves a local copy only when you choose. Normal site visit analytics do not receive these entries.
What else should we consider?
What is a 2-2-5-5 schedule?
One parent has two nights, the other has two, then each has five. The 14-night cycle repeats. Each parent has seven nights per fortnight, with longer blocks than a 2-2-3 schedule. The start date sets the first night of the cycle.
How many nights is every other weekend?
This planner uses Friday and Saturday nights for every other weekend: two nights per fortnight before holiday changes. Adding a Wednesday overnight each week makes four nights per fortnight. If your weekend includes Sunday night, use the custom pattern. Annual totals count the actual dated nights rather than multiplying a rounded fortnightly estimate.
How do the other shared schedules work?
Alternate weeks gives each parent seven nights in turn. A 2-2-3 cycle alternates blocks of two, two and three nights, then swaps parents in week two. A 3-4-4-3 cycle gives the first parent three nights, the other four, the first four and the other three. Each has seven nights in a 14-night cycle.
How are school holidays shared?
Holiday dates include both the first and last overnight and replace the usual rota. Half of each holiday gives the starting parent the first half and any extra night in an odd-length holiday. Alternate holidays gives entire holidays to each parent in date order, beginning with the starting parent. Holidays outside the annual period do not add nights to the totals.
Are typical England holiday dates official?
No. They are editable illustrations of February, spring, May, summer, October and Christmas breaks, not official dates for any council or school. Spring dates are not matched to Easter. Check your council and school before relying on them. Dates vary by council and nation, and Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland differ. School inset days may also differ.
How are annual nights and handovers counted?
The annual period runs from the start date to the day before its anniversary, including a leap day when present. Each overnight belongs to one parent. A handover is a change of overnight household between consecutive dates within that period. The monthly figure is the annual count divided by 12, not a count for a particular calendar month. It does not set pickup times or count daytime visits.
Is my schedule saved or sent anywhere?
No. Nothing you enter is sent or stored anywhere. Dates and assignments stay in temporary page memory, are not added to the address and clear when you reload or leave. Copy and download happen only when you choose them. The site still counts visits with its normal consent-based analytics, without receiving your entries. This is a planning tool, not legal advice.
Where can we find official guidance?
This is a planning tool, not legal advice. For official information, read Making child arrangements if you divorce or separate on GOV.UK and Cafcass guidance for parents and carers for England. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own law and services. Take individual advice where needed.
