Best family apps for multilingual families UK (2026): compared and checked

The Haevn team6 min readLast verified

If your household reads in more than one language, look for a family app where each person picks their own language. Haevn works in 16 languages, including Polish, Welsh and Punjabi, and each member chooses theirs in Settings. TimeTree lists 13 languages, FamilyWall 11, and Cozi is listed in English only on the UK App Store.

Which family app is best for a multilingual household?

    • Haevn (our app): households where people want different languages on the same plan, with the calendar, lists, meals, budget and house admin in one place. 16 languages, and each person picks their own.
    • TimeTree: a free shared calendar in 13 languages.
    • FamilyWall: a broad Premium plan in 11 languages, with native phone apps.
    • Cozi: English-speaking households who want a free calendar with ads, for up to 12 people.

Why does language matter in a family app?

In the 2021 Census, 8.9% of usual residents in England and Wales aged 3 and over (5.1 million people) did not report English, or English or Welsh in Wales, as a main language. In 6.0% of households (1.5 million), members had different main languages. After English, the most common main languages were Polish (612,000 people), Romanian (472,000) and Panjabi (291,000). In Wales, 538,300 people aged 3 and over said they could speak Welsh, 17.8% of the population.

A shared calendar only helps if everyone reads it. A grandparent who reads Punjabi more easily than English, or a partner who prefers Polish, is more likely to check a plan they can read without effort.

How do the four apps compare?

Legend: Yes and No come from the provider's own materials. Not stated means we could not find it on the date checked. It does not mean the feature is missing. Last checked 18 October 2026.

What should multilingual UK families look for?

    • Each person can choose their own language, rather than one setting for the whole household.
    • The languages your family actually reads. A language count does not tell you which ones, so check the store listing.
    • What stays in English, such as emails, receipts and help pages.
    • Whether shared items are translated. In Haevn they are not: an item stays in the language it was written in.
    • Who sees what. A grandparent may only need the calendar.
    • iPhone and Android in the same house, prices in pounds, and UK school terms.

    Frequently asked questions

Which family organiser app works in Punjabi, Polish or Welsh?

Haevn works in all three, alongside 13 other languages. TimeTree lists 13 languages and FamilyWall 11, but we did not record which ones on the date we checked, so look at their store listings. Cozi is listed in English only on the UK App Store.

Can each person in the family use a different language?

In Haevn, yes. Each person picks their language in Settings, and it applies to their screens and the notifications sent to them. We could not find this stated for Cozi, FamilyWall or TimeTree on the date checked.

Does Haevn translate what other people write?

No. Shared content is not rewritten, so a list item or message stays in the language it was written in. Menus, buttons and system messages follow each person's chosen language.

Is there a free family app that works in other languages?

TimeTree and FamilyWall both have free versions, and list 13 and 11 languages. Haevn has no free tier. It costs £6.99 a month or £69.99 a year, with 14 days free and no card needed.

Which languages does Haevn work in?

English (UK), English (US), Spanish, French, German, Polish, Welsh, Romanian, Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil and Simplified Chinese. Emails, exported documents and support replies are in English for now.
